Executive Director Short Biography Béto Tellería, M.A.
Founded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization For Those In Pain, Inc.
10 years ago and has served as its Executive Director to this day.
Fending off Spinal Cord Injury and Cancer along the way, he has labored to
serve those in pain through thick and thin. Béto’s dogged determination
hinges on his sincere conviction that any one of us can become sufferers of
great pain. As he so succinctly states: "On any given day, on any given
turn of any given dime.” In these first 10
years, he has taught over 500 Pain Management Training Classes, designed and
executed two Pain Management Conference & Exhibitor Faires, and is
currently designing his third, (October 23, 2005). He has delivered
numerous community lectures & in-services, and was the keynote speaker in
one conference. Further, he has authored over six-dozen creative
Training Materials for both patient and provider. Béto has also been
the subject of an ABC news story and numerous newspaper and magazine
articles. His favorite claim asserts that: “ The two most powerful treatment modalities in the management of chronic pain are, regrettably, the two most overlooked…. They are low-tech, require no insurance coverage, and are fully portable. These two modalities, or tools, if you will, are the patient’s own heart & mind. The apprenticeship of the heart and mind shall be viewed as the essence of self-management. “ |
